Guarantees & Warranties
We want every product supplied by Kite Wing and Foil to meet the standards you expect. Many of our products are covered by a manufacturer’s warranty in addition to the legal rights available to you as a customer.
Manufacturer warranty periods and conditions vary between brands and products. A warranty is commonly offered for one year, but this should not be assumed. Please check the individual product information and the manufacturer’s warranty terms for the period and conditions that apply to your purchase.
Your Statutory Rights
A manufacturer’s warranty or guarantee is provided in addition to your statutory rights. It does not replace, restrict or remove those rights.
Products supplied to UK consumers must be of satisfactory quality, fit for their usual or agreed purpose and as described. If a product is faulty, you may be entitled to a repair, replacement, price reduction or refund depending on the circumstances and when the fault is reported.
Your statutory rights apply whether or not a manufacturer’s warranty is offered and may continue after a manufacturer’s warranty has expired.
Making a Warranty or Faulty-Product Claim
If you believe that a product is faulty, stop using it if continued use could cause further damage or create a safety risk. Contact us as soon as reasonably possible at info@kitewingandfoil.com.
Please include:
- your name and order number;
- the product name, size and model year where known;
- the product serial number, where applicable;
- a clear description of the problem and when it occurred;
- details of how and when the product has been used;
- clear photographs or video showing the product and reported fault; and
- photographs of any serial-number label, product label or relevant packaging.
We may request further information where reasonably necessary to assess the claim. Please do not return a product until we have provided return instructions, as some products may need to be inspected by the manufacturer, distributor or an authorised repair centre.
How Claims Are Assessed
Where a claim is made under a manufacturer’s warranty, we will normally contact the relevant manufacturer or authorised distributor on your behalf. The claim will be assessed under the manufacturer’s warranty terms applicable to that product.
The manufacturer or distributor may inspect the product and decide whether the appropriate warranty remedy is a repair, replacement product, replacement component or another remedy allowed by its warranty.
We cannot guarantee that a manufacturer will approve a warranty claim. However, a manufacturer’s decision does not remove any separate statutory rights you may have against Kite Wing and Foil as the retailer.
Products Damaged on Delivery
If a product arrives damaged, incomplete or incorrect, please contact us promptly. Where possible, retain the packaging and provide photographs of the parcel, shipping label, internal packaging and product.
Damage that occurs before the product is delivered to you is not treated as accidental damage caused by the customer. Accepting or signing for a parcel does not remove your statutory rights.
Manufacturer Warranty Exclusions
Manufacturer warranties generally cover manufacturing or material defects arising during normal and intended use. Depending on the manufacturer’s individual terms, warranty cover may exclude:
- accidental damage, collision, impact or crash damage;
- damage caused by misuse, abuse, neglect or use outside the product’s intended purpose;
- normal wear and tear or cosmetic deterioration that does not result from a manufacturing defect;
- damage caused by incorrect assembly, installation, adjustment, storage, transport, maintenance or repair;
- failure to follow the manufacturer’s instructions, safety guidance or maintenance requirements;
- unauthorised modifications or repairs;
- damage caused by incompatible components or accessories;
- loss of the product or any removable component;
- commercial, instructional, rental or competition use where excluded by the manufacturer’s warranty; and
- consequential or indirect losses not covered by the manufacturer’s warranty.
The exact exclusions depend on the manufacturer and product. An exclusion under a manufacturer’s warranty will not restrict any statutory remedy available where the product was faulty, not of satisfactory quality, unfit for purpose or not as described when supplied.
Inspection and Return Costs
If a product is confirmed to be faulty and you have a valid statutory claim, we will cover reasonable return or collection costs as required by law.
For a claim made solely under a manufacturer’s warranty, responsibility for transport, inspection and servicing costs will depend on the manufacturer’s warranty terms. We will explain any potential charge before arranging a chargeable service wherever reasonably possible.
If an inspection finds that the problem was caused by accidental damage, misuse, ordinary wear and tear or another matter not covered by the applicable warranty or your statutory rights, you may be responsible for reasonable inspection, repair and return-delivery costs. We will not authorise a chargeable repair without your agreement.
Repaired and Replacement Products
A repair or replacement supplied under a manufacturer’s warranty will usually be covered for the remainder of the original warranty period or for any additional period specified by the manufacturer.
A replacement may be an equivalent product or component where the original model, size, colour or model year is no longer available. We will discuss any proposed substitute with you before it is supplied.
International Warranty Claims
Manufacturer warranty coverage can vary by country. Some manufacturers restrict warranty service to the country or authorised distribution region in which the product was originally supplied.
If we have agreed to deliver a product outside the UK, please contact us before returning it. We will confirm the applicable procedure and whether the manufacturer can provide support through a distributor or service centre in your country.
International manufacturer-warranty claims may involve shipping, customs or import charges that are not covered by the manufacturer. We will explain the available options before a return is arranged. This does not remove any mandatory consumer rights that apply to the sale and cannot lawfully be excluded.
Additional Assistance
If a problem is not covered by a warranty, we may still be able to help arrange a chargeable repair or source a replacement component. No repair or chargeable work will be undertaken without your agreement.
