SIZES: 130L

The JP Australia Downwind S-TEC is a purpose-built downwind SUP foil board engineered for exceptional glide, stability and early lift - the perfect tool when conventional wing foil boards struggle to get you flying in light or marginal conditions. Built in JP’s high-end S-TEC carbon construction, this board combines light weight with stiffness and direct response, helping you accelerate efficiently across flat water, ground swell or downwind bumps.

What sets the Downwind S-TEC apart is its design focus on converting paddle power into forward momentum with minimal drag. The rounded nose and flat bottom standing area provide a stable platform with smooth touchdowns, while the sharply beveled tail makes it easy to sink and lift into flight, even when wind and swell are modest.

Downwind boards like this also tend to build surface speed more efficiently, helping you get up on foil sooner and maintain higher apparent wind - a feature that’s valuable not just for classic downwind runs but also for light-wind wing foiling where speed is key.

Performance Highlights

  • Early lift & sustained glide — long, efficient outline promotes speed with less effort.
  • S-TEC Construction — featherweight yet rigid board feel, boosting responsiveness.
  • Smooth touchdowns — rounded nose and flat standing area deliver forgiving recovery.
  • Easy foil handling — new tracks simplify assembly and provide precise positioning.
  • Wing foiling capable — versatile shape means you can use it beyond pure SUP downwind.

Who It’s For

  • Intermediate to advanced riders who want to prioritise glide and range.
  • Light-wind enthusiasts who value early foil lifts and speed through the water.
  • Downwind explorers who enjoy longer rides, swell linking, and open-water performance.

Design Details

Design Profile

A high-quality downwind board needs the right balance of light weight and stiffness for direct response. JP builds the Downwind S-TEC exclusively in their top-tier S-TEC construction: a precisely CNC-cut core wrapped in a full PVC sandwich with lightweight carbon laminates for a crisp, connected feel. A brushed-off topcoat helps reduce weight, while bright fluorescent nose and tail zones improve visibility and safety on the water.

All-New Foil Track System

The redesigned tracks simplify foil assembly. With large openings, you can drop the plate nuts into the track while mounted on the foil, slide them into position, and tighten. Removal is just as easy: loosen the screws and slide the foil backward and upward.

JP avoided extra openings to preserve structural integrity. Boards with the new tracks include a standard set of 4 plate nuts for excellent load distribution and thread engagement. A mirrored positioning scale between the tracks is echoed in the deck EVA pad design, helping you reference foil placement relative to your back foot.

FAQ

Is the JP Downwind S-TEC only for paddle downwind, or can I wing it too?
Yes — it’s built as a dedicated downwind SUP foil board, but wing foiling is also possible. Expect it to feel glidey and efficient, especially in lighter wind and for linking bumps.
What makes a downwind board easier to take off?
Downwind boards prioritise paddle speed, glide and stability. The Downwind S-TEC’s shape and tail design help you accelerate efficiently and control lift-off, while the rounded nose supports forgiving touchdowns.
How does the tail shape help with getting on foil?
The beveled pin-tail is designed so you can sink the tail more easily and control the pitch as you build speed, helping you achieve flight with less drama.
What’s special about the new foil track system?
The track openings make it easier to insert and position plate nuts while mounted on the foil, then tighten. It’s designed to simplify assembly without compromising track integrity. Boards include 4 plate nuts.
Which foiling level is this board best for?
It suits intermediate to advanced riders who want maximum efficiency, glide and downwind capability. If you’re brand new to foiling, a wider/stubbier platform can feel easier at first — message us and we’ll recommend the best option.
